Concept artist & storyboard artist. BIGMOON ENTERTAINMENT STUDIOS
After working with comics, illustration and graphic design, he starts his career in animation in 1997 through a course for animators at Animanostra, a film and TV series production company. In this studio he works as an animator for the children´s TV program ‘Jardim da Celeste’, ‘Angelitos’ and “Estrela de Gaspar”. In 1999, after working as an animator, animation director and team leader in the animation studio Magictoons, he returned to Animanostra where he directed the children´s TV Series ‘As Aventuras de Móli’ and ‘Eu quero ser’, between 2001 and 2006. He was also responsible for the backgrounds paintings of the animated series ‘O Turno da Noite’ and he directed a few animated shorts for the children’s series ‘A Ilha das Cores’. Between 2007 and 2009 he works in the studio GameInvest (as a lay-out artist and animator) and in the animation studio Sardinha em Lata where he works as a storyboard artist in the TV series ‘Ema e Gui’. In 2010 Ricardo moves to Vila Nova de Gaia (Oporto) to work in the animation and video game industry for Bigmoon Entertainment Studios, as an illustrator, UI designer, texture artist, cut scenes storyboard artist and concept artist in titles like: ‘Tic Tac Tales’, ‘D TEAM’, ‘North & South’, ‘Trapped Dead: Lockdown’, ‘Space Empires V: Battle for Arthemis’ (to be released) and ‘Demons Age’ (to be released). In 2011 and 2012 he’s part of the Selection Jury of the Cinanima – International Animated Film Festival – where he is currently a member of the festival´s Organizing and Programming Committee. In 2014 and 2015 he is a member of the jury for the annual support programs of the audiovisual and multimedia portuguese projects, organized by ICA, Cinema and Audiovisual Institute.
