Quintanar Place welcomed Saturday October 4th the International 3D Wire Market closing in its 6th edition, with the presence of local and regional authorities and also young people and professionals in the animation industry, video games and new media.
For second year was held 3D Wire Fest, International Festival of animated short films. 3D Wire consolidates as an Official Festival Cartoon d’Or, the only nationwide. The prestigious Cartoon d’Or award is the highest award of European animation, with the aim of promoting young European talents in animation and creates a link between artists in the industry. The European winners of 3D Wire Fest 2014 are shortlisted for Cartoon d’Or Awards 2015.
So, David Matamoros, Producer of Zentropa International Spain, presented the Best International Short Film Audience Award for ‘Oh My Dog!’ Chloe Alliez (Belgium) and the Best Spanish Short Film Audience Award went to ‘Strings’ Pedro Solis. The jury of SAM, Animation Director and founder of the production company Conflictivos Productions; Belli Ramirez, Co-Founder and Producer Able & Baker Studios; Doris Cleven, Co-Director of ANIMA, International Animated Film Festival in Brussels; and José Iñesta, Director Pixelatl; has delivered their own awards.
The jury decided to award a unanimous decision recognizing the Best International Short Film ‘La maison de poussière’ Jean-Claude Rozec (France) and the National Award for Best Short Film for ‘Zepo’ Cesar Diaz Melendez. In addition, ‘The Bigger Picture’ Daisy Jacobs (UK) has won the award for Best European Short Film. Include ‘Bear Story’ Gabriel Osorio (Chile) and ‘Marilyn Myller’ Mikey Please (UK) special jury mention at International and European respectively.
Moreover, for the first time in 3D Wire it was given an award for the category of Best Short Film from Spanish National School : ‘Hi, I’m New’ Mario Serrano (ESDIP).
The fourth Call for Projects at 3D Wire has presented the future of the animation industry and video games made in Spain with the most successful participation of all editions held to date: A total of 131 proposals, among which include 24 short films 16 feature films, 23 animated series, 57 games and 11 apps.
To present the RTVE Awards to projects were present Francisco Javier López-Escobar Anguiano, Territorial Delegate of the Board of Castilla and Leon in Segovia; and Yago Fandiño, Head of Kids Content RTVE.
The RTVE Interactive Award for Most Innovative Video Game Project, which also involves the presentation of the project to RTVE Direction of Interactive, it was for “Rise&Shine” by Super Awesome Hyper Dimensional Mega Team. The developer’s creator and founder, Enrique Corts, went to pick up the award. Also, this video game recibed the 3D Wire Cartoon Games Award 2014, consisting of a free accreditation to attend to 2015 Edition of Cartoon Games, which will take place from 4th to 6th March in Lyon (France).
The RTVE Interactive Award for Most Innovative App, which also involves the presentation of the project to RTVE Interactive Direction, was for “3D Anatomy VYZ” by PIZZA & PLAY GAMES, Animal Anatomy Exploration program. José Barros and Oriol Massana, CEOS of PIZZA & PLAY GAMES, collected the award.
The closing ceremony of 3D Wire 2014 was the setting for other special distinctions of this sixth edition. José Luis Farias, Director of 3D Wire presented the Friendship Award to Belgium, guest country with representation from Doris Cleven, Director of ANIMA Brussels. As a result of the collaboration of FICOD International Digital Content Forum organized by Red.es of the Industry, Energy and Tourism Ministry; Alfons Martinez, Head of Advertising, Image and Red.es Programs highlighted the high quality educational and technological commitment app ‘MyPreschool Monster’ Big Bang Box and KD Productions giving Fernando Alcaraz Big Bang Box and Sandra Salvador KD Productions, the FICOD Award for Best Spanish Transmedia Project.
In parallel, the Gamification has been one of the most important leitmotif of this sixth edition of 3D Wire, making it a very special adventure which largely have all been part of it generating a good atmosphere, proactive communication and exchange of ideas, experiences and projects. The result has been an intense and fun Clan War between Elves and Orks, whose winning team were the Orks thanks to the contribution and participation of attendees 3D Wire. To mark the gamification, 3D Wire has taken its first awards # 3dwireGAM: Brownie Quest Award for the delivery of a Giant Unchi Cacota to Miguel Montesinos, CEO of Evil Mind Entertainment. In addition, the launch of the official game of the Market ‘Super Cube Quest‘, with the cooperation of the developer Evil Mind Entertainment, has had its own high score award with the delivery of “The Ham” to Lucas Alfonso Escorial.
In view of the birth of Bridging the Gap, Animation Lab as intensive training workshop for new talents in animation in our country, 3D Wire has had this year with Grant CANAL + / Bridging the Gap Award in his first call. Guadalupe Arensburg, Director, Department of acquisitions shorts CANAL + Spain, and María José Andrés, Councillor of Police, Traffic and Mobility; they handed Rocio Alvarez recognition for his short film project ‘Symbiosis Carnal‘. The prize is a full scholarship to Bridging the Gap, Animation Lab, to be held in July 2015 in Valencia, and covers tuition 1,200 € (course, accommodation and meals included) and a cash prize of € 1,000.
The Fourth Battle of animators this year has the theme of the MEDIEVOLUTION: our buckets this year have traveled to the medieval world 8 bit. Participants will have to tune them in line with that magical time of sword and sorcery. Thus, the First Prize of the Battle of animators, who participated in this year three teams, went to Box Marley by ‘A three boxes on the sky’. His prize is a free place for the next crash course in stop motion animation in Clay Animation, creators of the ‘Clay Kids’ series, and in a lot Total Gift of Jumping Clay.
The second prize, consisting on a professional kit Supplies Animation armature and an educational set of Jumping Clay, has been for Ilustristicos by ‘Pixel time adventure’. The group Pinxos House 4 was third and received a batch of mini gift Jumping Clay. As every year, teams of no more than 5 components have had 28 hours to create a short animation with 3D cube Wire as main character, using the streets of Segovia to shoot and pixilation technique.
3D Wire May 2014 ended Sunday with a day dedicated to training young professionals and entertainment and value of the smallest with new technologies. The market has offered six animation workshops and games in collaboration with companies like Gamevelop, Techex, SummuS Render, Middle Atlas, Hybrid Play and Los Hacedores.
